Our company contracts with USA based photography copyright-holders to find and enforce alleged infringement of their copyrights. We only manage the rights of the photos for our photographers. We don’t own the photos themselves. We makes extensive use of automated webcrawler technology and digital fingerprinting. Clients may also notify us of violations they have spotted and request that we pursue a claim against the offender. Copyright infringement is an offense, just like stealing a car or robbing a supermarket. Because it’s so easy and ‘innocent’ to right-click a photo you found on the web and hit the ‘save as’ button, many people think it is OK to use the photo. It is not, you need to purchase the right to use the photo. If you, or your designer, happen to download and use a photo from a public domain website, that was uploaded without the photographer’s knowledge – you are performing an infringement as if you stole the photo yourself. Doing so can delay our process of collecting damages, but be advised that we already have the basis for our claim against you on file and we will use it in our claim.
